Tackling every work day with enthusiasm, Charell Chavez shares a positive, happy demeanor. She is small in stature, but she has a huge heart and vast knowledge. She always takes time to speak with each resident listening attentively to their needs. It is obvious that she is eager to make a positive difference in each resident’s life. Charell is very perceptive. She watches and listens to both residents and their families.

Charell has been deeply engaged in the care of a resident who is 101 years old and confined to a wheelchair. Charell always squats down so she can speak and listen to her at eye level. She speaks very clearly and at a pace residents can understand. By taking the time to speak to residents at their eye levels, she gives them her undivided attention, which reassures them that she is listening to them. This builds respect on both sides.

Charell’s smile and upbeat attitude are reassuring and contagious. She approaches every concern with an open mind and will always take time to listen. Having taken the time to get to know residents, Charell knows what they are capable of thus fostering their independence. The residents know they can approach Charell with any concerns, and Charell will jump in to help. Residents see Charell as a true friend who respects their thoughts and opinions when coming up with a solution.
