Eva Yongaan, scheduler
When a neighbourhood at St. Teresa Place is short staffed because of a sudden family emergency or a last-minute sick call the site cannot fill, Eva Yongaan does not simply adjust the schedule and move on, she steps forward personally. Whether covering a shift, helping with hands-on care or guiding staff through assignments, she consistently shows that staff can trust her word. Her colleagues know if Eva says she’ll take care of it, she will.
Eva has a reputation for honesty, dependability and deep care for those she serves. She is a steady presence with unwavering dedication. She is often the first-person staff turn to when something feels off. Rather than dismiss frustrations, she invites open conversation and works toward real solutions.
When a health care aide felt she repeatedly received assignments to the heaviest neighbourhood whenever she picked up extra shifts, Eva listened carefully. Then she pulled up the schedules and reviewed the facts with her. Eva acknowledged the concern, explained the constraints she must navigate such as timing and collective agreement rules and then proposed a fairer distribution plan. She also recognized some staff said they were not receiving text messages about available shifts. In response Eva suggested using both text notifications and the Dayforce message centre to ensure everyone had an equal opportunity to bid on open shifts. Most importantly, Eva followed up later to confirm that the situation had improved and it had.
