Kim Switner, environmental support services

As a member of the environmental services team, Kim Switner does many things at Youville Home. She works on a variety of units. Kim works in housekeeping, but she also serves residents lunch and does residents’ laundry. Residents are happy to see her because she takes time to talk to them and share a smile. They miss Kim when she is away. She tells jokes and hugs residents spreading joy.  

To lift spirits, Kim decorates residents’ rooms and the units. She brings balloons to help celebrate residents’ birthdays. She creates the hockey schedule and decorates for Oiler games.

When someone is dying, Kim helps take care of the family too. She cries and laughs with residents. She is a good listener. Kim has told residents that working with them is her reward.
