Manjula Jayasinghe, hospitality worker

Residents have shared many times that Manjula Jayasinghe is the best cleaner they could ask for. She is also very considerate whether she is cleaning suites with care or slowing down from her routine to offer a genuine smile, greeting or a warm touch on the shoulder. She will not hesitate to take a few extra minutes to offer comfort or to make conversation to let a resident know they are not alone. This comes from a genuine place of love reminding residents that someone truly cares.

With patience and kindness, she listens to residents’ worries and comforts them with gentle words. When a resident is struggling with the passing of a spouse or loved one, Manjula checks on them daily and gives them a hug to communicate hope and empathy. She constantly makes residents feel loved by asking how their day is going or remembering something small that is important to them.

Manjula recognizes residents’ vulnerability by paying close attention to small changes in their behaviour like their mood or physical wellbeing. If a resident has an accident in their room or the hallway, she does her best to quickly and quietly clean it up as well as comfort the resident, so they do not feel embarrassed or feel like they are a burden.

Her coworkers notice her loyalty to the facility. Manjula makes a difference with her kind presence. Her smile lifts up everyone.
