Consistently going above and beyond in providing compassionate, respectful and person-centred care, Nisha Karungodan builds strong connections with residents always honouring their dignity and privacy. She moves throughout the floor assisting residents including those who are not her current assignment. Nisha works extremely hard, maintains a positive attitude and is genuinely happy to help others.

Nisha takes time to communicate respectfully with all residents but especially those who are severely anxious, offering comfort and helping them feel safe and at ease. She approaches all residents with patience and understanding, forming meaningful connections that build trust and a sense of security in her care. One of the anxious residents continually asks for Nisha to assist with her care, not just because she completes tasks but because Nisha does so with genuine care and compassion.

She always knocks on the door before entering a resident’s room and waits for a response. This practice reinforces their privacy. Nisha does this even when she is busy and pressed for time. She ensures doors remain closed during care and will close a resident’s door if she knows they prefer it.

Nisha maintains strict confidentiality, keeping private conversations and sensitive information discreet. She never discusses a resident casually or inappropriately.

She addresses residents by their preferred names and helps educate new staff about these preferences. Nisha takes time to teach new team members about each resident’s individual needs and routines promoting continuity and personalized care.
