Darshak Patel, health care aide educator

By providing training to staff Darshak Patel, he helps ensure residents receive the highest standard of care. Through this training he promotes a culture of responsibility and compassionate care.

Darshak has training and certifications to deliver key programs relevant to the site. He is a certified CPR trainer, a supportive pathways facilitator and a crisis prevention intervention instructor. He provides this training at Centre de Santé Saint-Thomas and other sites. He also ensures all staff receive monthly education about emergency preparedness and resident care. Additionally, Darshak updates and reinforces continuing care health service standards in the site. He is serious about reaching all staff even if that means he has to get to work by 5 a.m. to ensure everyone receives the training they need.

He is an It’s Your Move safe client handling trainer. Darshak ensures staff receive their annual training and reinforces the practices throughout the year. He is highly knowledgeable and able to answer staff’s questions. When he does not have an immediate answer, he takes the initiative to look into it and to follow up.

Along with the clinical lead, Darshak organized the supply room and created a sign-out sheet to monitor supply usage to help maintain smooth operations. He ensures the room is restocked weekly. When a unit runs out of supplies and there are not any in the supply room, he goes out of his way to get the necessary items for the unit.
