Linda Brace, secretary geriatric psychiatry
At Villa Caritas, Linda Brace plays a key role in advancing education, awareness and support for First Nations communities among staff and patients. Through her initiative, she has supported greater understanding of reconciliation, cultural safety and inclusion.
Last year, Linda developed and coordinated awareness and education initiatives, including the Red Dress campaign, National Indigenous History Month and Truth and Reconciliation programming that explored both local and national Indigenous history. Through these efforts, she created opportunities for staff and patients to learn about the impacts of residential schools, celebrate Indigenous culture and reflect on their roles in reconciliation. Her work encourages dialogue and reflection across the care community.
She approaches this work with integrity, humility and respect, modelling advocacy in both her actions and interactions. Her efforts encourage colleagues to learn and reflect, supporting a culture of inclusivity and respect throughout the site.
Linda’s engagement spans a range of formats, from formal presentations to one-on-one conversations. She provides guidance and support to colleagues and teams. Through her work, education about diversity, equity and inclusion remains accessible and relevant across the site.
