Inna MacKay, provincial manager

Ensuring teams have the supplies and resources they need to do their jobs while reducing variation in practices ultimately translates into improved outcomes for those we serve and reducing overall costs to Covenant Health. Inna MacKay helps make this happen by pulling data about supplies and engaging teams from leadership to clinical to review products and practices.

Inna helped streamline the ordering process at St. Mary’s Hospital. She identified there were three people ordering supplies from different vendors for the same unit. She also found special orders when a similar product was available at the central depot. An example of this is surgical booties, units were special ordering them, but the central depot had them available in a different colour. They switched to the central depot product.

She is the supply chain manager across Covenant Health. Inna pulls together groups to assist in reviewing the variances in product selection across sites. She asks questions about what would be the best way to engage with professional practice, educators or specialists to review the products in use and potentially standardize clinical products. Reducing unwarranted product variations in practice can support healthcare providers with appropriate product selection, support clinicians to make clinically cost-effective decisions and promote evidence-based practice to meet the evolving needs of patients and clinicians.
