Angele Vaters, infection control practitioner

Since Angele Vaters’ arrival at St. Mary’s Hospital, she continues to prove herself as honest and trustworthy. Not only does she support St. Mary’s Hospital, but also Bonnyville Health Centre, Mary Immaculate Care Centre, St. Joseph’s General Hospital and recently La Crete Community Health Centre. Angele was instrumental in La Crete getting up and running and ready for their grand opening.

St. Mary’s Hospital has had numerous construction projects recently. Angele compiled a document for staff outlining common construction facts. With each construction project, Angele is there to ensure the necessary inspections are completed. She follows all of the procedures and will not proceed until she is absolutely sure the process is correct. In November, she adjusted her schedule to meet with contractors to keep the project running safely and on time. She is an essential part of the project management team.

When faced with any tasks or questions, Angele is prompt, open, honest and very approachable. She noticed the lack of education and confusion about different types of wipes and their uses, so she developed a concise, easy to read one-page resource for staff to check if they had any questions or concerns. Angele’s way of explaining things makes staff and leadership feel informed and that she is taking care of the site.
