Kim Murdock, secretary
Colleagues say Kim Murdock is the glue that keeps the emergency department together. Kim’s duties are numerous. Her door is always open. She takes time to answer questions and with her great knowledge she often has an answer, a word of advice or she can direct you to the correct source.
Everyone feels comfortable approaching Kim: environmental services, porters, patients, families and volunteers. She connects with everyone to get the team’s feedback on suggested changes, and she brings that information back to the mangers. Kim is your go-to person in the hospital. She likes to be part of the site, not just the emergency department. She often volunteers to help with social events at the Grey Nuns hospital.
One day a senior patient was missing in the winter. Kim ran outside to help look for him. Others had passed him, but she found him. Then she ran back to her work. She became known as Eagle Eyes after that. Kim saved that patient.
Kim takes time to go around the emergency department, check on the team and say hi. She asks if there are any questions or concerns, and shares about upcoming changes on the unit. Kim makes everyone feel appreciated and like a valuable team member.
Everyone knows they can go to Kim and she will find results. She is committed to help the team work more efficiently by resolving issues.
