Naresh Bains, social worker II
By engaging a wide range of perspectives to support residents and colleagues Naresh Bains honours diversity. She includes residents and families as valued partners in the care experience. Naresh understands meaningful, person-centred care is grounded in shared decision-making. She ensures that every voice is heard, especially the residents.
Naresh supported a resident’s wish to return home. She took time to listen carefully to his perspective, honouring and validating his goals. She acted as an advocate for him and involved his family in opening the discussion of discharge from St. Joseph’s. Naresh organized many meetings with this person, his wife and children to explore all options, discuss concerns and plan collaboratively. She continued to act as a strong advocate for him not matter how challenging the discussions were and kept his wishes at the centre of every decision.
She brings years of social work expertise to St. Joseph’s. Naresh is always willing to support her coworkers. Whether answering questions, offering guidance or stepping into care conferences, she contributes to a collaborative team environment where everyone feels supported and valued. Beyond her daily responsibilities Naresh participates in events like Remembrance Day and The Tree of Hope.
Throughout the day, Naresh engages with families, chats with residents, checks in with unit clerks or works with other allied health professional to help provide the best possible care. She makes a point to attend the initial care conference of all residents she covers at the site.
